Welcome!
ACPL Library Camp will take place at the Allen County Public Library Main Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Tuesday, November 12, 2013. This UN-conference will feature guest speakers, presentation opportunities for you, and a plan-as-we-go format of breakout sessions in the afternoon. If you've never been to an UN-conference before, it's a great way to learn what you want to learn while networking with other librarians! At Library Camp we'll focus on library technology,
innovation and problem-solving. Wikipedia defines an unconference as "a facilitated, face-to-face, and participant-driven conference centered around a theme or purpose". Unlike other conferences, Library Camp costs nothing except the price of gas, food, and lodging if you plan to stay overnight. Everyone eager to discuss libraries, technology and innovation is welcome, students and professionals alike.
Speakers
This year's featured keynote speakers are: Wes Fryer and Matt Goldner.

Agenda
We call Library Camp an "un-conference" because only the keynote speakers are planned. The Agenda for the day will be up to you! Together, we will decide what the afternoon breakout sessions will be. We can get started on that right now by posting ideas for topics ONLINE at our Idea Informer Page (Open for ideas now!) You can also vote for your favorite topic ideas there. We will use the topics YOU post as ideas for our afternoon agenda. You have until Monday, November 11th to participate on the Idea Informer page, so check it out and don't be shy! You'll also have an opportunity to pitch ideas for breakout sessions during the morning of Library Camp. Please note that we always have a special gift for the person with the best topic idea!
Presentation Opportunities

A portion of ACPL's Library Camp will follow the Pecha Kucha Night format: 20 Powerpoint slides in 6 minutes! People who want to share will give 6-minute presentations, followed by 1-minute Q & A. If you present a pecha kucha, you'll receive an ACPL mystery gift! Interested in sharing a pecha kucha? Just email Amy Griffin at agriffin@acpl.info. Want to know an easy way to remember how to pronounce "pecha kucha"? Click here for a video clip.
Another opportunity for you to present your idea or project is at the Project Gallery! We will provide you with a 6-foot table and two chairs, and you can show off your project any way you want. During the second afternoon session, Project Gallery presenters are required to participate in Project Gallery Speed Geek, where you will present your project in a short five-minute sessions to a rotation of small groups. Note: The Project Gallery will ONLY be open during the Speed Geek session, and will remain open until 4:30 for casual browsing. Interested in sharing your awesome program or project at the Project Gallery? Have questions about it? Just e-mail: agriffin@acpl.info. Libraries in the New Information Landscape
|
The information landscape which libraries exist in continues to evolve at an unprecedented rate. The library’s role, whether serving a city’s population or an academic institution is in a state of constant change. What do we need to be paying attention to and exploring? Together we will look at this changing landscape, both within the library industry and outside the library industry to see where we might consider focusing our time and energy.
